Grider cited health reasons for his decision. He underwent angioplasty in October to remove a blockage from a clogged artery.
"My past nine years as head coach of the BC Renegades has been a truly memorable experience," he said. "Recent events in my life have caused me to take a look at my future and make this decision in the best interests of my family."
Grider has accomplished much at BC. The Renegades have won 77 percent of their games, compiling a 75-22 record, since his appointment as head coach in 1995. The 'Gades also appeared in seven straight Potato Bowls and reached the California Junior College Football Championship game in 2000.
