This weekend, the Bakersfield College wrestling team was at Sacramento City College for the Sacramento City Tournament, where it placed fourth with an overall score of 41 points.
"Third was well in our reach," said BC coach Bill Kalivas.
"Some of the guys just weren't prepared. We had some mental breakdowns."
Although many of the wrestlers had a hard time at the tournament, some of them did well.
"Out of the 10 weight classes we have, only four of our wrestlers stepped up," said Kalivas.
Jason Carasco, 184 pounds, took first place in his division.
Josh Marquez took second for the 285-pound division.
George Silva took third, while Addison Hay took fourth at 125 pounds.
"Right now we have a base, we're working off that base," said Kalivas. "We've made some progress."
In volleyball, BC placed third in the Santa Ana Tournament on Sept. 23.
In women's soccer, BC beat Hancock 5-0 Sept. 19.
