It was fun while it lasted, but break is over, and classes are back in session. The Bakersfield College campus was fairly cold and quiet over the break. "I didn't hear of anything happening on the campus over break," said BC freshman Cameron Apple.

Still, a few things did take place. There is relief for all you drivers out there. Road work around the campus is finally over and parking is back to normal.

Amber Chiang, director of marketing and public relations, developed and released Career Focus, a 30-page magazine, to 300,000 homes.

"Career Focus is meant to reach out to the community, covering subjects such as financial aid and career info," she said. According to the Bakersfield College homepage, classes at BC are now $20 a unit, a $6 decrease from last semester.

Some key dates passed by last week. Feb. 2 was the last day for refunds for semester length classes, and Feb. 5 was the last day to add semester-length classes with an approved add slip.

Also, the colleges is offering PHIT, a program that provides preventative health care information and training in an effort to make for a healthier student.

New at BC is an art show at the Wylie and May Jones Gallery in the BC library. The show will include images of landscapes and human form from various artists from Feb. 1 to March 1.
