Bakersfield bored leads to drinking

Bakersfield is the town that even God has looked over. The people that inhabit this town, at least the ones our age, often have a difficult time of finding new ways to fill the empty void of down time, to say the least.

A lot of teens find themselves either at the movies or the mall every weekend.

So Bakersfield is not only eating your youthful souls, it is eating your entire income.

Of the various students interviewed some of the most remarkable and deplorable comments came from Evan Moran.

This student strung together an eloquent painting of controversial ways that he finds himself spending his time, leaving me with a clearly covered canvas of lament, and abhorrence.

When asked about entertainment options, he said "there's a lack of stuff to do." He went on to say that there is not much to do in this town except for going to church, "I could take my girlfriend out for a night of praying, getting drunk at parties, or bowling." He continues, "and not usually in that order." It would seem that this town's rating for youth fun is going down the drain faster than a teen's abstinence morals on prom night.

Not all students find themselves drinking away the boredom of a Saturday night at a party, playing beer-pong until 4 in the morning. Video games at the local arcade have been a good way to avoid the downer that this town forces down, for some students.

So what exactly does make this town taste a little sweeter? The death of a local celebrity, or would most students rather wash away the taste with alcohol on a Saturday night.

The teen drunk driving rates would, in all probability, prove the latter to be the most accurate conclusion.
