I completely agree, this semester, I had the same issue. Getting head aches and having to smell that smoke which makes me nauseous isn’t fun. I definitely think BC has higher standards than letting their students in hail a killing chemical that could affect our education and our thinking.

You contradict yourself in the opening few paragraphs “As a student who dislikes smoking,” and later “I don’t personally have anything against smoking, ” You obviously do so contradicting yourself is insulting to the reader. Also passive smoking is only an issue in enclosed space, not outside. You get far more harmful toxins in your lungs from walking down a traffic filled street than you would standing a few feet away from a smoker in the open air so your argument that you are protecting “your friends” by voting against having designated smoking areas is obviously not true and makes no sense. Also your argument for voting against the designation based on the fact that people weren’t following the rules is a flawed argument. That’s like saying we shouldn’t have laws because some people break them. Also being irritated by an odor coming through a vent or by a random smell off other people is also childish. People don’t exist to make your life less annoying, I for instance hate the smell of Tuna, I do NOT expect people to stop eating Tuna. An odor is just an odor it has no health risk involved. This article is full of childish arguments and flawed logic. It is obviously written by someone who is anti smoking and is trying to hide that fact (badly) from the reader. Besides the fact that it is badly written you shouldn’t trust someone who is willing to lie to you.
