The Native American Cultural Awareness Club is hosting a film festival in honor of November, proclaimed by President Bill Clinton in 1994 as National American Indian Heritage Month.
The club will show “Smoke Signals” today, “Thunderheart,” on Wednesday, and “Dance Me Outside,” on Nov. 14. The films will be shown in the Fireside Room at 11:45 a.m.
“We want to promote awareness of our heritage,” says Theresa Auger, secretary of NACAC.
Each of these films centers on the Native American reservations and their impact on those who live there.
“If anything, it’s to raise people’s awareness of what Native Americans go through,” said NACAC President April Martinez.
