Lindsey leaves a large donation after passing

Marge Lindsey, who made several financial donations to Bakersfield College in the past, died last year, but it was recently learned that she left a substantial amount of money to the college.

Her estate included a donation of $100,000 and another $84,000 for the next 20 years to support the Bakersfield College Archives. In addition to that, her estate will also donate $100,000 a year for 20 years toward scholarship funds.

Tom Gelder, director of the Bakersfield College Foundation, considered Lindsey a friend to the Archives. Once an owner of a large Pepsi-distribution company, Lindsey remained involved with BC over the years.

Lindsey was very active in her church at First Presbyterian as well as being involved with BC.

Gelder stated the Archives kept going throughout the years due to Lindsey. “Absolutely the Archive department wouldn’t be the same without Marge Lindsey,” Gelder said. “She kept the department going.
