Potholes in BC parking

If you have driven in a parking lot at Bakersfield College, it is likely you have encountered numerous potholes.

Every semester, students who want to park on campus at BC are required to purchase a parking pass for  $40, excluding the summer semester, which is $30.

The funds from these passes are supposed to be going toward the maintenance and upkeep of the parking lots, yet there continues to be complaints from students about potholes.

When asked about the potholes, Maintenance and Operations manager Don Birdwell said, “We are currently in the process of creating a routine pothole repair schedule.”

As far as preventing the potholes in the future Birdwell said, “We are working with a vendor to try out some new products to fill the holes.”

Along with potholes, it is evident that some of the parking lots at BC also need additional work done.

“Now that the weather is warming up, you will start to see more repairs in our parking lots”, Birdwell said.
