Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week took place Feb. 1-8 and gave onlookers a preview of what could be expected in fashion for the fall 2008 season. The colors, the fabrics and the cuts were all displayed by different designers on the runway.
With the sophisticated design of the fabrics and the colors to make anyone feel sexy, BCBG MAXAZRIA proved to have one of the hottest styles on the runway for women. This designer seemed to focus on a very sophisticated look, concentrating on off-white and ivory colors mixed with khaki browns, deep indigo blues and chocolate browns. There was an abundance of high necklines and short hemlines. This designer went for a strong look with a strong emphasis on the waist, with nearly all styles containing a tied belt around the high part of the waist.
I love this look. It’s a timeless collection that will look good on almost any woman. The colors can complement any skin tone. The high necklines and shorter bottom give the look an understated sexy. BCBG MAXAZRIA created a very sophisticated look that can be made to be worn to the office or out to dinner.
Another designer that caught my eye was Nautica for Men. The line focused on bright blues, soft yellows and an occasional red, while mixing in basic gray, black and white colored coats and slacks to create a sophisticated look that’s jazzed up with color. Men can expect to wear a traditional suit with a yellow and blue thick-striped scarf. This line gave viewers a modern twist on the everyday office wear.
Designer Pamella Roland rocked the runway with her line that was full of femininity and basic colors: grays, black-and-whites and deep reds. The line was also a contributor to the high-waisted look that seemed to be popular.
This line was full of chic glamour and more sophistication. Like BCBG MAXAZRIA, high necklines were also popular, but the designs were made a bit more sexy with the dresses and gowns. Concentrating on lower necklines and sheer wispy materials made the gowns a definite sexy.
The Sean Jean line was also present during this year’s Fashion Week. The line emphasized furs, prints and leathers on tailored suits, slacks and coats.
I personally thought this line was a bit over the top as a whole, but Sean John did include very detailed and original creations. What appeared to be angora sweater-vests, with coordinated collared shirts in a soft blue, were some of the designs that were noticeable to me in a positive way. Sean John was all over the place in terms of colors, from reds to silvers and burgundy, baby blues and even silver sparkling sequins. The line proved to have an overlying theme: over the top.
