The death of Jason Blossom, The Black Hood murders, The Gargoyle King, G and G. What do all of these things have in common? They all started in the town of Riverdale.
Riverdale is a small-town split into two, the Southside and Northside. It should be the same as any other town, but it is far from it.
The show’s characters are based on the Archie Comics company. Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes). They are four best friends living in the town of Riverdale.
Jughead and Betty are the journalists, detectives and strongly hoped to make the town a better place. The series started January 2017, and no matter how many times they closed the case, they seem to find more and more mysteries in Riverdale. Betty and Jughead are always one step ahead of even the sheriff’s office. Betty’s mom, Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick), is a reporter of the Riverdale Register and Jughead’s dad, F. P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich), goes from Serpent King to Sheriff of Riverdale.
The Southside Serpents are a gang of people who felt like they didn’t fit in with the North Siders.
Later in the series, many secrets unfolded and fights, including rivalries, broke out. The Serpent King title was passed down to Jughead. Betty became their queen so she could stand beside her star-crossed lover Jughead.
The show is easy to watch and audiences fall head-over-heels for Archie or Jughead. Young teens can relate to the show.
Riverdale presents many scenarios often seen in everyday life and connects them with the world today. They include school riots, the LGBTQ+ community, hidden family life, abuse, and outcasted people.
With the show focusing on four best friends, it gives supporting cast members a chance to influence the main characters to enrich the show.
Riverdale won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Drama TV Series in 2017, 2018 and 2019. They also won the People’s Choice Award for Drama Show of 2018.
Riverdale isn’t loved by everyone, but it is a show worth giving a chance. Not all shows are created equal, but this series is worth seeing.
