Review: Bucky’s Hot Chicken is definitely a place to test your taste buds

The best thing to do in Bakersfield whether you’re a local or not is to stop at a family-owned food truck. If you’re in the mood for hot and spicy chicken or particularly Nashville hot chicken, Bucky’s Hot Chicken is a must stop.
Locally owned, the blue food truck puts a spin on hot chicken. Located on the corner of Brimhall and Coffee, you can find Bucky’s parked in the Chevron parking lot.
The food truck specializes in three meals, chicken tenders, chicken wings, and chicken sliders. Buckys offers spice levels of Country, Mild, Medium, Hot, and Extra Hot. Each meal comes with sweet fries and pickles. The signature Bucky’s Sauce is the perfect dipping condiment for the tangy chicken.
I visited the Bucky’s Hot Chicken truck on two separate occasions to create a review based on consistency. Each time, there were five to six small groups gathered around the food truck waiting on their orders. The wait was approximately 20 minutes and worth every second.
One can only try Bucky’s signature hot chicken by visiting their food truck. The truck currently does not provide online or over the phone services to place an order. Bucky’s is not your average fast-food joint and the price of the meal shows in its quality of the food.
The chicken tender and wing combo, both in the medium seasoning, was at a high spice level. However, if you’re a spicy food lover, the medium spice level is a perfect start. Both of the orders carried the same spice consistency and surprisingly was a strong amount of spice. The Buckys sauce was almost necessary because of how hot the seasoning made the chicken. However, the chicken tenders were large, juicy, and tender which made the spice worth it.
The second round of Bucky’s included an order of the mild chicken tenders combo that came with a side of Texas toast. The mild seasoning made the chicken enjoyable because it was the perfect amount of heat. After finishing the whole meal I would definitely recommend the mild seasoning as a starter for someone who is dabbling into spicy foods.
If you’re into Nashville chicken and extreme spice, Bucky’s Hot Chicken is definitely a place to try.
