Adelaida Munoz is just like any other 18-year-old Highland High School graduate.
“My goals are to move out of Bakersfield,” she said.
Munoz plans to leave after she attends Bakersfield College first.
Munoz is the baby of the family. She lives with her mother, Olga, her father Tony, and has a 28-year-old sister, Martha.
“I want to explore and travel in other cities and towns,” she said.
Munoz has lived in Bakersfield her whole life, and said it’s time for a change.
She later added that the weather here is too hot and “stuffy.”
The best thing, she said, about high school was her friends.
“They’re always there to talk to, and whatever you tell them, stays between you and them.”
Her goals are to go to Bakersfield College and to “hopefully become a medical assistant.”
If Munoz doesn’t become a medical assistant, she plans to work with children in a child-care center.
When she leaves Bakersfield, she wants to move to Santa Cruz.
“The weather up there is perfect,” she said, describing Santa Cruz as her favorite vacation spot.
Munoz also said that the boardwalk is so “beautiful,” and is so much nicer than Bakersfield.
Her favorite pastimes include listening to Keith Sweat.
“His lyrics are so cool.”
She also likes to go out to the movies and to the park with her boyfriend, Greg Saldana.
“Greg and I just sit down and chat, talk … it’s more peaceful.”
