Seventeen-year-old Vanessa Heinicke enjoys helping others.
“I want to be a nurse because I enjoy helping people, and they make good money,” she said.
Heinicke will be a senior at West High School in the fall and also plans to attend classes in nursing at the Regional Occupational Center. She is looking forward to her graduation in spring 2005.
“I can’t wait to graduate so that I can get started on my career,” she said.
During the journalism workshop, she learned that she enjoys shooting photographs.
“I never knew I enjoyed taking pictures this much,” Heinicke said of her new hobby.
During her spare time, she likes to play softball, soccer and tennis. And like most 17-year-olds, she also enjoys listening to music and talking on the phone.
Unlike a lot of teens, however, Heinicke enjoys writing.
“I want to write my own book, someday,” she said, explaining that learning how to interview people in the workshop can help her accomplish that.
