As you walk up to the dollar theater at 4200 California Ave., you see different racial and age groups. Many families line up excitedly to view a movie with each other. Now big families can all go to the movies because it only costs $1 per person.
Nancy Rohr, 47, was at the movies with her husband. This was their first time coming to the theater. The reason why is simple.
” ‘Cause we’re cheap,” she said with a raised eyebrow and a smile on her face.
Nineteen-year-old Jose Marana, who is planning on going into the Marines, was at the theater with his family. He was there to watch “Hellboy” with a couple of his cousins.
“I was gone to Mexico and they’re showing the movies that I missed,” he said “and because I’m broke.”
Marana said he comes here once a week to bring his nephew. He also comes here with friends other than just family.
North High student, Janise Madden, 15, was there with her friends.
“It’s cheap,” she said.
