The Career Technical Education (CTE) office at Bakersfield College (BC) is offering different Workshops where you can see different pathways with Transfer Career Exploration 2.0.

This is an excellent experience for those who are not sure what their ideal paths. With the VR Headsets you can see different pathways and experience different activities that you would face if you decided on that pathway.

VRs have access to Career Exploration 2.0, a new VR app that has career 12 simulations. A few simulations are Help at a Car Crash (EMT), Install a Solar Panel on a Home (Solar technician), Help an Emergency Patient (Nurse), Drill an Underground System (Broadband technician – Utilities), and so many more simulations.

Each simulation has a digital trainer who will guide the user and tell them what to do. The instructor will also give tips in real time so that the experience is as close to as real as possible; in these simulations, mistakes can be made, and the program will tell the user what the correct method is.

For the people that already know what their career is, and they simply want to know more about it, then this is an excellent opportunity. Users can learn new things and understand the chosen career in more depth and even ask about any doubts or questions while using the VR Headsets.

One of the best parts of this program is that most of the simulations last about 6 or 8 minutes depending on how long it takes the user and if they finish quickly, they can always do other simulations.

The workshops will take place on these dates Apr. 9, Apr. 16, Apr. 17, Apr. 23, Apr. 24, Apr. 30, May 1 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. At the Fireside Room main campus. If you are interested in knowing more about the VR Headsets, you can go to any of these dates and experience the different simulations.
