Bakersfield Police Department responded to a potential gun threat at Bakersfield College on Jan. 30.
According to an email that was sent out by Public Safety, the police department was contacted about someone with a handgun on campus.
After a thorough search that took place around the FACE, SS, and ART buildings, as well as an interview with the witness who reported the scene, police determined there was no threat. The witness did not see a handgun and police believed the incident to be a domestic dispute. According to the email, police called off the search for a suspect and determined there was no credibility to the report.
There was no lockdown of the campus and classes continued as scheduled.
