California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that the California National Guard began assisting the state on March 20. The National Guard were enacted on a short-term deployment that will assist a food bank distribution warehouse in Sacramento County. They also have assessed the needs of other counties in the state that have requested assistance with their food bank programs.

The National Guard has helped other locations throughout California to help through these times of crisis.

Gov. Newsom has asked for the citizens to help out in partnership with the website and app Nextdoor to assist those in the communities.

The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) has not been declared in need of assistance from the National Guard as of now. The CAPK announced that they started distributing food at local high schools on March 23.
