BC is now a COVID-19 vaccination site

Bakersfield College has been approved to host multiple COVID-19 vaccination clinics for eligible individuals who meet the Kern County Public Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Schedule. Which may include people 65 years of age or older, educators and healthcare workers.

The Bakersfield College Student Health and Wellness Center hosted a Moderna vaccine clinic in the Levinson Hall at the main Bakersfield College campus, March 9.

The next clinic hosted by BC Student Health will be held on Thursday, March 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Levinson Hall and will distributed the new one-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

In partnership with Dignity Health, a drive-thru Moderna vaccination clinic on-campus will be held at the Stadium Parking lot next Saturday, March 13, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will also be a clinic at the Delano campus on March 15 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Eligible individuals are required to bring their photo ID, VIPMD registration packet, and their insurance card.

BC President Sonya Christian hosted the fourth President’s Virtual Seminar Series on March 4, to discussed and update information on the BC Vaccination clinic, results of a college-wide survey, and vaccinations and higher education. The panel also included updates from Director of Student Life, Nicky Damania.

Christian said so far, several 100 BC faculty and staff have had their first dose of the vaccine since the opening of Phase 1B.

“It’s our priorities is the health and safety of student, staff and faculty. There are unique times, and we need to use caution and common sense as we implement the reopening of our campus,” Damania said.  “Lots of President seminars we are engaging in conversations and fees techniques that we need to engage with ourselves to make sure we’re keeping ourselves and others safe. Things are changing rapidly. New studies are coming out weekly so just keep in be mindful and watch for these things as they come through. We will try to update you with the most information that we can at all times.”
