Bakersfield holiday resources

The City of Bakersfield is gearing up for the Holiday season with some events that will give back to the community.The following is a schedule of organizations that will be distributing essential needs for the holidays.

Mission at Kern County will be distributing meals on Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving and on Dec. 22 for Christmas Eve from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at 821 E 21 St.

Catholic Charities of Bakersfield will be distributing food in Bakersfield, Buttonwillow and Arvin.

Nov. 22 starting at 8a.m. they will be at 825 Chester Ave.

Dec. 1 from 9- 11a.m. they will be at St. Thomas Church on 350 E Bear Mount in Arvin.

Dec. 8 from 9- 11a.m. they will be at St. Mary’s Church on 420 N. St. in Buttonwillow.

Dec. 13 from 8-10a.m. they will be at 825 Chester Ave.

CSF Foundation will be distributing food on Friday Dec. 8 at 3811 Mount Vernon Ave.

The First Congregational Church of Bakersfield has a food pantry open on Wednesdays from 8:30 to 11:30a.m. The church is located on 5 Real Rd.

The Bakersfield Hope Center distributes food on Wednesdays from 9:30a.m. to Noon. The Center is located at 3311 Manor St.

Blessing Corner Outreach will be having a Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Nov. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 2p.m. and a Christmas Day Extravaganza on Dec. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both will be held at 101 Union Ave.

These organizations need the help of the community to provide toys, clothes, and food for the holidays. This is a chance for those who can help, to make a difference in other people’s lives.

A2MEND is holding a toy drive, and they have a box where toys can be dropped off before Dec.1 at the BC welcome center.

Youth 2 Leaders are accepting unwrapped toys for local children from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15. There is a drop off box on BC’s campus in the CSS counseling office building.

The M Street Navigation Center started their coat drive, which will last until Jan. 2024, to provide warm clothing for the Wintertime. They are asking for brand new coats that are large to four-x-large in size to distribute to the occupants of the center, located on 2900 M St.

The Kern County Library is having a food drive from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. Canned and boxed foods can be dropped off at the library during library open hours at 701 Truxtun Ave.

Catholic Charities of Bakersfield is asking for frozen turkeys to distribute for Thanksgiving on Nov. 18 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 7a.m. to 1p.m. they can be dropped off at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton 12300 Reina Rd.

The generosity of these organizations to help the community will surely bring a smile to many families of the community.
