I don’t believe I have talked to anyone who likes the Bakersfield logo.
It’s not that they don’t like it, but most people just say it’s too simple or doesn’t make sense.
If you haven’t seen the sign, it’s the squiggly line and dot, and reads, “Bakersfield” underneath.
I don’t think very many people know that the sign represents the mountains around the valley, and the dot is the sun.
There is a push to change the logo and add an official slogan, something Bakersfield has never had.
“Bakersfield: Life as it should be” is the proposed slogan, and the logo has “Bakersfield” written in a new font, with a leaf hovering over it.
There has been a push to change the logo for a while.
People seem to think we need to welcome business and tourists into Bakersfield.
Personally, I don’t think we need more people, we have more than enough population.
We are rapidly turning into Los Angeles and finding ourselves with major problems.
Personally I like the current sign. Granted it is pretty plain, but it does represent our city.
I wouldn’t have a problem changing the logo, but I would have a problem with my tax money going into making new signs and putting them up in place of the old ones.
I just don’t believe our logo is that bad, or that we need a slogan that much.
