Valentine’s Day is great. I don’t care if people say it’s a commercial holiday set up by “the man” only to increase revenue and certain profits. It’s a great holiday, and I’ll tell you why.
So many positive things come from this man-made holiday. All of the people who receive gifts and chocolates feel great, and it can’t be bad for a person’s self-esteem to get treated in an extra special way once a year.
Yeah, sure, if you really love someone then they should be treated the same way all year, but if you really love someone, you shouldn’t mind running out to the store or doing something extra special for a significant other.
Not to mention the enormous amount of people who rely on Valentine’s Day as a source of income. I mean, think about the CEOs of those major corporations. They’ve got to make a living, too. And so do the workers who sculpt those cute little heart chocolates, or better yet, the people who operate the machine that sculpts those cute little heart shaped chocolates.
Why are people making a big deal about it? So it’s a pagan holiday, aren’t they all? If the banks and schools decided to close, and your job told you not to come in because it was a paid holiday, would you protest?
The fake holiday of Valentine’s Day is great because people get gifts and businesses can cash in on the profit. The businesses give people a job and employ hundreds of thousands of people.
This is a pretty big holiday, especially for the men who wait until the last minute, then run to get the last gift set. The businesses and the people employed by the businesses really appreciate it.
So, I say let it be. Stop being a Bitter Betty and embrace the day. Wear red and pink and draw pictures of fake hearts on cards. This is the nationally proclaimed holiday where you can let someone you care about know how much you can afford.
