Many of you have been wondering whether to sign up with Netflix or iTunes. Although they may sound the same they are really two worlds apart.
When I first subscribed to Netflix my heart was pumping like a little kid on Christmas morning. All I had to do was sign up, pay a monthly fee of $7.99 and all the movies of the world would be at my fingertips.
I started off selecting random hits from, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” to “Gone with the Wind”, no matter which movie I chose, Netflix would not allow me to view them instantly. It seemed as though anything worth checking out had to be pre-ordered with a waiting period of no less then a week.
Oh, and did I mention they allow you to pre-order up to six movies, but will only send you one at a time and your next selection will not be sent out until they receive your first selection?
With all the time it takes to go through this big hassle, I could’ve been to Blockbuster seven times and rented quadruple the amount of movies allowed by Netflix.
On a more positive note, Netflix has an extensive collection of B-Rated movies and unpopular television shows, which they allow you to watch instantly, as you wait for the good stuff to arrive in the mail.
Netflix is definitely not for the impatient and if you’re looking to purchase movies online then it’s not for you.
iTunes on the other hand provides a variety of entertainment such as E-books, music, movies and radio shows referred to as “podcasts.”
When it comes to movies, iTunes will allow you to either rent a movie or buy one, and you can rest assure iTunes allows you to download instantly.
Unlike Netflix, when you rent a movie from iTunes they allow you to keep it until 24 hours from the time you started watching it. That means you can watch the movie when you’re good and ready without the hassle of having to deal with a DVD.
iTunes originated as an online music store, a place people go to honestly purchase and enjoy music. They have now evolved into an entertainment beast.
Not only can you purchase a whole album, they also allow you to choose a single song of your liking for 99 cents. I don’t know about you, but before iTunes I sometimes had to buy a whole album for just two songs.
Netflix and iTunes are two great ways to get a hold of your favorite movies and before you decide which one to choose, you must ask yourself three questions; do you prefer to pay a monthly fee or pay instantly? Do you prefer downloads or DVD’s? Finally the main question: do you prefer waiting for about a week or?
