Frightful laughs at Tehachapi Terror’s haunted house

Tehachapi Terror’s Haunted house this year is back and better than ever, with some more clowning around included. While the line was long, the wait was worth the scare. On the outside it’s a house, easy to assume that the inside would match, but that wasn’t the case here.

It’s a twist and turn at the start, the premise is based off a search for a clown named “Uncle C”. It continued with panels with pictures of clowns that revealed a scare actor jumpscare, chilling to the bone.

Some areas depicted horrific scenes around each corner, hair raising performances. Scary clowns jumping out of seemingly nowhere, leaving guests to always watch every corner to wonder where and when the next jumpscare will appear.

A creepy candy store area had a scare actor asking guests if they wanted candy and would follow them out of that section.

Thrill fills senses after realizing that not every prop is a prop. For example, there was a corridor of clowns that all seemed to be props but it’s hard to tell when one appears behind as guests venture through the clowns. Just as there is a feeling that the scary fun is over, the horror continues.

There’s a slaughterhouse feel near the end of this frightful clown experience, which brought an uneasy sense throughout. Screaming victims begging for help as their torture continues as guests walk past.

In the end, the fear might leave guests fearful and unnerved, there’s the urge to go through it all again.

Compared to last year’s haunted experience, Tehachapi Horror stepped up on their horror. It was in Tehachapi, at 16966 E. Tehachapi Blvd, and was surprisingly a free attraction. They do take donations, but this event is worth it even if it wasn’t free.
