The women’s track and field team has five runners who qualified for the Southern California Final.
Haylee Varner recorded a mark of 146-6 in the javelin to qualify for the javelin and discus in the SoCal Finals May 10 at Bakersfield College. Other qualifiers include Anikia Jackson who finished with a mark of 128-4 in the javelin and qualified for the finals in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.89 and 400 hurdle with a time of 1:06.63. Jackson, Holly Moseley-Raymond, Rachel Johnson and Shalisha Harris qualified for the 400-meter relay. Harris also qualified for the long jump with a mark of 17-6 and the triple jump with a mark of 35-43. Moseley-Raymond also qualified for the pole vault with a mark of 10-1. Emnet Habebo qualified for the 1,500 with a time of 5:06.50.
The men’s track and field team didn’t qualify anyone for the finals. Cesar Mirales finnished 13th in the 1,500 with a time of 4:07.23, the top twelve advanced to the finals. Mirales missed qualifying in the 800 by .52 of a second.
