The Bakersfield College volleyball team got their first taste of home action on Sept. 1 when they hosted the Bakersfield Quad Tournament. Coming off two straight set wins the previous day against Cuesta and College of the Sequoias in Visalia, the Renegades looked to continue their dominance against Allan Hancock and Santa Barbara City College.

Freshman outside hitter Penelope Zepeda showed off her athletic ability with several kills in the first game against Hancock. Freshman Lanie Camarillo controlled the net, contributing heavily on the offensive and defensive side. The match was won handily

in straight sets (25-8, 25-15, 25-16).

The second match was a harder test for the Renegades, but a strong team dynamic proved important in their victory against Santa Barbara (25-19, 25-21, 25-17). Despite losing in all three sets, the Vaqueros were able to keep the games close with back and forth rallies. BC sophomores Sarah Armendariz and Bianca Logsdon came up with several crucial blocks to keep the momentum on the side of the Renegades.

The Renegades plan to build on their 4-0 start as they travel to Ventura College on Sept. 7 for the Pirate Classic Quad and to Santa Barbara City College on Sept. 8 for the SBCC Quad.
