The men’s basketball team took the road on Nov. 7 for their season opener against El Camino Community College and came up short losing 70-79.

The Renegades had a strong first half, battling back from a 15-point deficit early and forcing the El Camino into 14 turnovers. The Renegades went into the half up by six led by Anieus Medrano who had 11 at the break.

The second half is where El Camino rose their level of play behind guard Justin Chambers.

El Camino had two late runs to seal the victory. There was a 9-0 run which was topped off by free throws by Chambers. That run put the Renegades behind 70-65 with just over a minute left.

Medrano had a quick response to the run with a three of his own and cut the deficit to two.

However, El Camino did not miss a beat as they came right back with a three of their own that sparked an 8-0 run and put the game out of hand.
