The men’s basketball team got their first win of the season on Nov. 16, the first day of the Renegade Classic, with their 79-67 win over Porterville.

It was a back-and-forth game for majority of its duration. These two teams changed the lead several times in the first half with both defenses holding their ground for the first twenty minutes. The Renegades went into the half up by one, and searching for more offensive firepower, 28-27.

In the second half, the Renegades come out on fire. Led by Shahadah Camp, who had 31 points in the game, the Renegades scored 52 points in the second half getting big stops on the defensive end to close out the game and come away with a 12-point win.

“The team needed leadership and I tried my best to take that role,” said Camp.

“My teammates did an amazing job at setting me up and finding me in open spots and I just did my best to hit shots. On the defensive end, we really played as a unit and got stops when we needed them and that’s what allowed us to close out the game,” concluded Camp.

After their first win the Renegades record sits at 1-3.
