The Bakersfield College Men’s Tennis team competed against Ventura College and lost with a final score of 9-0 on Feb. 13.

It was the team’s fourth loss in the season following their defeat against Fullerton at the beginning of the month. Currently, they are 0-2 in their conference.

“Tennis is the kind of game you can always improve on,” said Noel Dalton BC’s Men’s Tennis coach. “Just as long as they work on and understand the fundamentals of the game.” The game had a minor delay due to the awaited arrival of Ventura’s tennis team, but it quickly took off with the doubles matches.

BC players Connor Adkins and Eduardo Garcia started with a strong lead in their doubles match against their opponents Yuya Koide and Charles de La Laurence, but quickly lost their momentum and resulted in a score of 8-1.

Two more doubles matches were played with a score of 8-1 and one discontinuation due to a minor injury. For an overall total of three doubles matches and Ventura took the lead.

There were six singles matches played. Four out of the six sets had the same recurrent scores of (6-0,6-0), while two out of the six differed, with a score of (6-0, 6-1). BC player Eduardo Garcia held up a good fight against opponent Ryan Lam but fell short with an outcome of (6-1.6-1). Ventura College once again dominated the singles matches which resulted in Bakersfield College’s ultimate loss.

BC’s Men’s Tennis team left the same day and went on to play at Modesto for the JC tournament on both Friday and Saturday. The team’s next game is Feb. 25 at Bakersfield College against Santa Barbara.
