In an attempt to find the hottest teacher at Bakersfield College, The Rip surveyed over 100 students.
While tallying up all of the votes, there was no question that the most voted was going to be one of the three, “No one,” “I don’t care,” or the ever so popular, “I don’t know.”
Apparently the majority of the students surveyed were not concerned with how their teachers looked, but rather how they taught.
Or, they were new students to BC and they had no opportunity to know very many teachers such as BC pre-med student Brittany Arriola, 18, who said, “Don’t have one yet . first year here,” and BC digital arts student Ian Fitzpatrick, who had the same sentiment.
However, for those that did have an opinion, most students voted for political science professor Steven Holmes, 44, who got the majority vote. Such as BC student, Marlene Virrey, who said “Steve Holmes, oh my gosh, I know he’s married and has kids, but he’s hot, please tell him I said that, and that I’m good with kids,” said Virrey.
“What kind of survey is this!” exclaimed Holmes when he was informed of his status as hottest teacher on campus, “I think they made a mistake in the survey. Oh man, I don’t know, I guess humbly I should accept that.”
Before coming to BC in 1994, Holmes taught at Butte College, which is in Oroville, CA, Chico State, and he has also taught at Cal State Bakersfield from time to time. “I came to BC for full time employment,” said Holmes. “I really enjoy teaching, it is a valuable job, very rewarding.”
Holmes teaches five sections plus a distance learning class. He teaches American Government, California Politics in the fall, and Political issues in the spring.
As Virrey found out, yes, Holmes is married and has been for 12 years; he also has two kids.
Holmes joked about his good physique saying, “It must be all of that working out I’ve been doing; it’s paying off.”
