“One Piece” Review

The Straw hats are back and better than ever with a new and exciting adventure that awaits them in the hit anime “One Piece.” Written by Eiichiro Oda, the series has been in action since 1999, and is still in continuation to this day. The adventure entails sky island, a place full of mystery and wonder, where some questions are answered, and others remain unsolved. “One Piece” continues its crazy and action-packed tale exploring the Grand Line and all the glory it has to offer.

Sky island arc is regarded as a highly anticipated and important part of the series, during the time of its release, in 2002. One Piece covers a variety of real-world topics throughout the show, ranging from racism, blind faith, and power instilled through fear. Though the duration time is long, the arc being 43 episodes long, many viewers will find it nearly impossible to look away from their screen. Throughout the Straw Hat Pirates journey in Skypiea (Sky Island), they encounter strange phenomena, new territory and people with godlike abilities, to only add to their growing pile of adventures.

Some parts of this arc can be repetitive, with drawn out fight scenes and conflicts. The build to the main fight against the antagonist of this arc, Eneru, was very climatic and filled to the brim with fighting and lore. Viewers were given multiple perspectives from the main cast and even the side characters as well. The main fight of the arc will leave you with a sense of satisfaction and relief. The moments leading up to the battle with Mokey D. Luffy and Eneru are filled with tension and anticipation. However that doesn’t mean there weren’t hilarious moments throughout the arc.

The arc has a perfect amount of seriousness and humorous moments to help balance the show. Each character has their own unique sense of humor and personality, which only contributes to the humor.

The adventure is far from over for the Straw-Hat crew. The length of the show may look intimidating, but the overall feeling the show will give you makes it worth you while.
