Whether you are getting off work or getting started with your day, Honey I’m Home, located at

A picture of the “Its not crack” waffles, the hearty breakfast burrito, sides such as bacon and eggs over easy, and the chili Verde mac and cheese at Honey I’m Home located in Bakersfield California (Honey Crowder)

, is serving up Homespun classics with a new-age twist. Witness the marriage of City sandwiches, Covenant Coffee, and Sherb’s ice cream as a tantalizing feast of sandwiches, omelets, biscuits and gravy, fried catfish, and more all at a $10 to $20 per person range.

For $42.19 including tax, the total cost of three meals, including, the chili Verde mac and cheese, the Breakfast burrito, and the waffles were the highlights of this review. For the price these dishes are not only coming with filling portions but also a burrito with flavors as big as its gigantic size.

The chili Verde mac wakes up the senses with the taste of roasted poblanos, creamy decadent cheese sauce, juicy thick cuts of pork, and a gentle peppery sensation on the tongue. This lovely starter comes up to $8.99 without tax but is a comforting and even refreshing start to any meal.

For those on the go, the breakfast burrito is a great start for any morning, and for those who would like a bang for their buck its recommended to opt for the tri-tip. For $14.99 plus tax, you get a toasted tortilla, fluffy scrambled eggs, a hearty portion of succulent meat, your choice of nicely seasoned country potatoes or crispy hashbrowns, and fresh peppers and onion blend. Pairing it with their homemade, bright salsa and luscious sour cream makes this burrito a one-two-punch.

For waffle lovers everywhere this restaurant will bring due justice. For $14.99 without tax, you can try their fluffy and buttery waffles. Their “it’s not crack” waffle combo is made with lovely notes of vanilla and cinnamon and topped with sweet cream butter. You can top it with the jams or jellies offered at the table or their maple syrup that turns it up a notch with notes of homey spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This meal also comes with eggs, crispy bacon or juicy sausage, and your choice of country potatoes or hashbrowns.

This place isn’t just special because of its home cooking but because of the hospitality, the waitstaff doesn’t just make you feel like family but takes extra care to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. Not only do they tell you about the food, but they will also tell you about the tales that created Honey I’m home amid covid.

This restaurant is a good example of a small town with great flavors and would make a great place for students and their families to eat and make memories.
