Bianca Franco is a sports fanatic.
She has played golf, tennis, baseball, volleyball, thrown shotput and the discus.
A volleyball player since the sixth grade, she has been on the varsity volleyball team for two and a half years at Highland High School.
“They are like therapy,” she said about sports. “They relieve anger.”
While Franco enjoys all sports, football is No. 1 and her favorite team is the Raiders.
“My family likes the Raiders so I’m tagging along,” she said.
Besides playing sports, the 16-year-old senior volunteers as a candy striper at San Joaquin Hospital because she wants to become a doctor.
Franco lives with her mom, Diane, and her 9-year-old brother, Taylor. The family moved to Bakersfield three years ago from Fallbrook, a city near San Diego.
After the workshop she plans on writing for the Express page at The Bakersfield Californian and going to the University of Redlands to major in pre-med.
