“I hate school – maybe this workshop will open my eyes to something new I can be more involved in,” said Vista High student Kasie Cameron.
The child of divorced parents, Cameron believes that she could help young teenagers with problems in their lives by being a juvenile counselor or possibly a kindergarten teacher, though she is undecided on her goal.
Aside from modeling for the McCright Agency and working at Pacific Theatres, Cameron’s priority is mainly school, which is one reason she decided to participate in the summer journalism workshop.
Cameron, 17, has one more year to continue surviving high school, which is one of her greatest accomplishments.
As she goes through life, she looks up to her sister for making it through a difficult childhood, graduating high school and college, starting a family. She wants to mirror that in her own life. “She’s been through so much but she moved on and she stays strong,” she said.
