Parents have fight at music competition
Bakersfield police were called when one parent assaulted another parent while they were attending a music competition on campus April 27 in the Fine Arts building, campus security reported.
According to Detective Mary DeGeare, spokeswoman for the Bakersfield Police Department, a 50-year-old man shoved a 49-year-old man to the ground following a disagreement about a business both were affiliated with. The 49-year-old parent suffered abrasions to his left knee.
The case has been submitted to the county district attorney’s office for review, she said.
Athlete accidentally hits car with hammer
A hammer thrown during track practice hit a parked car on April 29, according to campus security reports.
A student athlete, practicing on the track-and-field area, accidentally swung the hammer over the fence into the southwest parking lot, striking a 1995 red Chevy Cavalier that belongs to Patricia Valdivia.
Valdivia was notified and told to submit insurance information.
