There’s a new teen hangout now and its popularity is increasing more every day.
Station 3:16 is a coffeehouse at 930 18th St. that features concerts. It is owned by Valley Bible Christian Church. Even though it’s owned by a church, you don’t have to be Christian to come and hang out. Everyone’s welcome.
Station 3:16 is a great place to be and listen to local bands play.
Sure, there are also other places around town to listen to the locals, but Station 3:16 has a nice atmosphere and employees who make you feel at home.
Some bands who have stopped by and played include Active Ingredients, Turquoise, Eleventh Hour, Goodnight Rosaline, Audio Adrenaline, Bleach, Star Struck, Pax 217 and Holiday.
Some people believe that just because it’s run by a church all the music will be about worship. It’s not. All the lyrics are clean and positive, but the variety of music is awesome.
The business also has rap, rhythm and blues, rock, alternative rock, punk and some Christian music. Music also includes worship songs.
Station 3:16 also has other entertainment. The first Sunday of every month, it has a karaoke night and it also has worship services.
The cost to get in is free. To see most concerts it’s $5, but when the big bands come through, it’s $10. The food is good and inexpensive. If you bring about $15 to $20 on a concert night, you are safe.
Sam Vonderheide books bands to play at 3:16.
“They get paid according to the fliers brought in,” he said.”I love my job. It’s fun and exciting.”
