In response to your article by Dotti Burns, entitled, “Metal Music is Madness”. I’m the guitarist for the aformentioned headbangers, FLATLINE. I’m glad that we had someone at the show that was writting an article, but had I known the person writing the article was not into the music, I would have made a point to make everyone in the room know.
Metal IS madness. It’s not all butterflies and puppy dogs, and baby baby…. it’s real world aggression in response to real world issues. I ask you why you sent someone to write an article about a metal show that wasn’t into the scene? This is not a scene of fakes. The people you meet are often more honest and real than anyone you’ll meet at a dance club. The reason. They’re there to see the bands, and listen to music. They are genuinely appreciative of something they like.
I feel a bit offended by the article. I’ve spent 20 years of my life playing the music I love. My only suggestion to you… The Rip, is to send out people that might actually enjoy the show. I tried to talk to this person writing the article, but got little response except a dirty look and a bad vibe. Not the kind of attitude you should have if you hope to go far. Take it from a thrash metal guitarist that wears a suit and tie to work everyday.
