Bakersfield College teamed up with the Kern County Public Health Department to provide free COVID-19 testing for the community on Sept. 22. The testing site will be running from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. in the BC parking lot on the corner of Haley Street and University Avenue.
“The best thing to know about this is that the testing that will be done, is the test that is looking for active infection, and it is using the less invasive [method] that they will actual do self-testing so the participant will swab themselves,” said Cindy Collier, Interim Director, Student Health and Wellness Center.
All social distancing guidelines will be followed. All participants will be required to wear a mask upon arrival until their testing is completed. The parking lot will have entrance and exit spots to ensure the safety of others as well to maintain order. Participants will park their cars in designated areas to allow for social distancing.
“You don’t have to have symptoms, but if you think you’ve been exposed or if you do have some symptoms, then come on out and it’s free of charge,” Collier said.
It was recommended that those that would like to be tested at this site should make an appointment through https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/ For more information visit the BC website.
