BC introduces its new members of Student Government

The Bakersfield College Student Government Association (BCSGA) announced their new  officers for the 2024-2025 academic year on April 11.

The new members of the Student Government Association are President Cindy Ceja  Miranda, Vice President Raya Arafah, Senator Trevor Turner, Director of Student  Organization Abigail Tamayo and student trustee Cindy Ceja Miranda.

“I decided to be a senator because I was working very closely with the senator who came out  this year but because he couldn’t do everything, he wanted it inspired me to want to be a  senator also because I would like to create new opportunities for those who have problems  with your residence,” said newly elected senator Trevor Turner.

He wants to create changes for those who have  problems with their residence and thus be able to create more help for those who do not have  the power to create opportunities for all of them.

Our new Vice president is also willing to work so that Bakersfield College students can also  do so and explains a little about what excites her most about being elected as the new Vice President.

“This past academic year I was one of the senators but this year I wanted to have one of the  highest positions, that’s how I decided that I wanted to run to be the new vice president and I  am excited to work with the students of Bakersfield College and be your of those who do not  have you” said Raya Arafah.

“I registered in spring 2022 and I saw that the student life office was just a table and that’s  how I decided to be president because I really liked the position and so I could make changes,” said Cindy Ceja Miranda.

Miranda also mentioned that they are working to improve the college’s surveillance cameras,  which she noticed from a student. If you know of something that the college can improve,  you can talk to any of the new BCSGA officers.

All BCSGA members all expressed their enthusiasm about working their new positions and are willing to work to create changes in BC to make the school a safer place for all of its students and Staff.
