Two male suspects fired shots in the P16 parking lot at Bakersfield College on Tuesday, Aug. 17 according to a BC alert sent to the campus community.

The two suspects were involved in a verbal altercation with another group of people in the free parking lot at the corner of University and Haley St., where the suspects then revealed a handgun and fired three shots, striking a nearby vehicle before they fled the scene.

The suspects have been described as two African-American males, both with a slim build, about 5’10 to 5’11 in height, and wearing athletic apparel (black gym shorts and red shirts.) One of the suspects has shoulder-length dreadlocks.

The suspects are not believed to be on or near the campus, so there is no threat on the Bakersfield College campus at this time. The Bakersfield Police Department is currently responding to the report and will be following up with an investigation.

Anyone with information on the incident should contact BC Campus Safety (661-395-4554.)
