BC wrestling victory over Victory Valley

Saad Kazi and Malachi Parker

Bakersfield College’s wrestling team triumphed over Victor Valley in their first match of the season with a stunning defeat of 56-0.

Multiple Renegade players, including Josiah Quiroz and Jeremy Turner, won by forfeit. Kevin Mello and All-American Jeremy Maas withheld long duels to come away with wins.

Heavyweight Jacob Hall had to endure the most but still ended his set with one arm in the air in a champion pose.

The next day more schools, such as Moorpark, Cerritos, West Hills, and others made the trip down to Bakersfield for an all play all tournament. Standouts over the weekend for the Renegades were Emmit Kuntz who ended the weekend with an undefeated record of 3-0 and returning All-American Jeremy Maas, who ended the weekend with a 2-1 record. Another champ in the 184 weight class, Adrian Dodinez did not wrestle due to being sick.

This weekend was full of top-heavy programs who finished strong last season so the Renegades performed very well against some top-notch competition.
