Renegade baseball team suffers defeat against Golden West

The Bakersfield College Baseball team wrapped up their three-game home series against Golden West at Gerry Collis Field on Feb. 16, with a loss in the extra innings, 4-3, allowing Golden West to take the sweep of the series.

Nathan Ortiz started and pitched for BC through sixth innings with four strikeouts allowing only one run.    

The Renegades had the lead up until the top of the ninth inning. Golden West tied the game on a wild pitch allowing the game to continue in the extra innings. 

BC had a total of seven hits, while Golden West had a total of nine in game three. 

In game one of the three-game homestand on Feb. 14, BC had the lead up until the seventh and came away with a 5-4 loss, with a total of five hits from BC.

Although BC bounced back in game one from an RBI bases-loaded double into deep left field from Trey Harmon in the bottom of the fourth, Golden West scored two runs to take the lead back in the top of seventh.   

Game two also came away with a loss of 5-3. The game started on Feb. 15, with Golden West in a four-run lead but due to weather, the game continued the following morning.   

Pitcher Lane Cowan got the start and the loss of game two.   

After this series, the Renegades drops to 7-7 overall and continued their losing streak to four.
