Men’s Basketball loses to Antelope Valley

The Bakersfield College Renegades faced off against the Antelope Valley College (AVC) Marauders at home on Feb. 12. The game came down to the wire as BC was unable to close the game falling to the Marauders 77-74.

The Renegades started off on fire connecting their shots from beyond the arc, hitting four threes within the first five minutes of the game. BC was able to control the lead throughout the entire first half leading by as much as 17 points.

With 7:40 left in the first half, Saintfilson Vincent (11) went down with a left injury. Luckily, the injury was not too serious as he checked back in within minutes.

The Renegades entered the half, controlling the lead of 41-26.

At the start of the second half, AVC was able to turn it around and went on a 13-2 run within four minutes to close the scoring gap. BC quickly picked up the offensive tempo to regain their lead to 10 with 13 minutes remaining.

It was back and forth run, up until the Marauders were able to go on a scoring run to lead for the first time 73-71 with 3:30 minutes remaining. The Renegades were able to get the last possession of the game to tie the game with nine seconds remaining. Unfortunately, they were not able to connect their final shot attempt.

Tyrell Coleman (4) lead the Gades with a double-double, 27 points and 12 rebounds. Javier Gallardo (25) added to the box score with a double-double of his own, 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Renegades fell 15-10 overall and 3-8 in the conference with the loss to the AVC Marauders.
