During their first meet, they performed well, but many of the swimmers believe this is only the beginning for what they have to offer.

Aydee Arredondo says, “I think the outcome of the team is really good this season. Everyone has their strengths and we’re all working to achieve our goals and what we need to do individually to get there. Overall, I think that we’re going to do big things and have a really great season and conference.”

Overall, the women’s team tied for second and the men’s team placed third.

Some of the top swimmers were Kristyn Feola with a time of 2:28 in the women’s 200-yard individual medley, Enrique Preciado with a time of 2:03 in the men’s 200-yard individual medley, and Emma Jeffries with a time of 1:16 in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke.

The team went up against four other community colleges including LA Valley, Santa Monica, Citrus, and Cuesta.

Head Coach Matthew Moon spoke about his team’s performance, he stated, “swim meets are great learning experiences for the coaches along with the athletes to see what we need to do and make the adjustments so we can be at our best in April for the WSC Championships. We did well but can take a lot away from the meet, making adjustments to the training, putting an emphasis on the little details, and making sure we are mentally ready when we step up on the starting block.”

The next meet is March 9th at Cuesta College. To see the rest of the schedule for the season, you can go to www.gogades.com.
