Bakersfield College’s men’s basketball team defeated Porterville College to improve to 4-3 on the season.

The Renegades got ahead to an early lead in this one, turning it into double digits and taking it with them into halftime. Porterville College wouldn’t let themselves be put away easily, as they stormed back to make it close again near the end of the second half. The valiant effort was all for naught, however, as the Renegades held on to secure the victory.

Guard Tyrell Coleman starred off the bench for BC, playing 33 minutes and leading the team in points with 19 while also going 7-15 on shots, with four of those made from beyond the arc. He and guard Sean Fry also led the team in assists with 4, while forward Deandre Pemberton made his mark on the game with 10 rebounds, 8 of them being offensive. On the defensive end, Coleman collected 3 steals and guard Rahmel Davis blocked two shots in the win.

After the victory on Thursday, the Renegades look to head south to Oxnard to play the Oxnard College Condors on Dec. 4.
