Notebooks are open, pens are scribbling and deadlines are closing in; it’s finals time at BC!
Psychology Club of BC hosted a casual space to review material, support each other and study the week before finals on May 7 as the semester comes to a close.
“No stash too big- you’ve got what it takes,” read one of the many stickers sprinkled on the tables alongside notepads, fidget toys, pencils and rubber ducks free for students to take.
There was calm music, tea, pizza and cookies and nearly the entire Psychology Club came together at this event. Although the Psychology Club is only coming up on its one year club anniversary, their time together has been crammed with events like “Kards for Kids,” creating Holiday cards for children, and “Coco and Cram,” their finals studying event for the fall semester that recently won event of the year.
The psychology club is often in the same room together or chatting online either planning events like this one or studying. Krystal Rubio, club president, said “We definitely bounce ideas off each other,” in regards to studying together.
Club leadership, Emiliano Serna, said that final’s time has been a little stressful and studying with someone else gives some relief. Liz Rosas, the club’s vice president, said most psychology club members have the same major. Collectively therefore, the psychology club expressed gratitude to have a community to be a part of and study with.
Psychology Professor, Becky Colaw, is the club’s advisor and she herself studies quite a bit as she’s working on her doctorate alongside teaching. Colaw said she’s liked being the club’s advisor, seeing them in an environment other than the classroom, at events like this or taking a break from studying.
Although this event was advertised as a space to stay focused and study, the psychology club was more so taking a break from studying. The students present who were studying were wearing headphones, otherwise it would have been difficult to focus because of the noise level in the room.
Buddy up to study and finish strong during BC’s finals week and on your way out from BC’s Psychology Club events, you’ll receive a heartfelt, “Thank you for coming!”
