Virtual event explores future of DC films

A virtual event known as DC Fan Dome was held on Aug. 22, where Warner Bros. announced multiple news about their upcoming comic book films.
With Comic-Con being canceled this year due to COVID-19, many DC fans thought they would have to wait a while before hearing any news on their favorite superheroes, but with the announcement of this virtual event, it made up big time for the loss of the beloved comic convention.
Concept art and plot details were released for both “Black Adam” and “The Flash.”
“Black Adam” will follow the rise of Shazam’s archenemy and his quest for power. The film will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the lead role and is scheduled to be released in 2021.
The concept art for the film depicts a Greek God vibe that is very similar to “Wonder Woman.”
Although Black Adam is a villain in the comics, it seems that this film will establish him as an antihero. The most likely reason for this is that DC is trying to copy what Sony did with “Venom.”
There is no doubt that Johnson can look the part, but will he be able to turn his friendly persona into a sinister one?
“The Flash” will adapt one of the Scarlet Speedster’s most famous storylines “Flashpoint” for the big screen. The story will revolve around the Flash as he uses his powers to travel back in time and stop the death of his mother, but in doing so he might have changed the events of the present for the worse.
The film will star Ezra Miller in the lead role and Ben Affleck will also appear as Batman. The film is scheduled for a 2022 release.
The concept art for the film shows off a new costume design for the Flash than the one seen in the “Justice League.” The new costume design seems to be a lot smoother and resembles the costume used by the Flash on the CW show.
The biggest surprise from this concept of art is that it shows a Batman who closely resembles the one played by Michael Keaton. Although nothing is official yet, the return of Keaton as the Dark Knight has been heavily rumored with this film and is something that all Batman fans will be excited for.
The inclusion of both Affleck’s and Keaton’s Batman makes it seem that DC is trying to create its version of Sony’s “Into the Spider-Verse”. With this concept, DC will have multiple Batmen from different universes.
The first trailer for “The Batman” was also released.
The film will follow a 2nd year Batman as he uses his detective skills to track down the Riddler.
The film will be released in 2021 and will star Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
This movie will stand on its own and take place in a universe not connected to any of the other DC films.
The movie seems to be less of a superhero film and more of a dark thriller. This will be the darkest version of Batman we have gotten yet.
We will also get to see a side of Batman we have yet to see and that is his detective side. He isn’t called “The World’s Greatest Detective” for nothing.
The casting of Pattinson as the caped crusader was a controversial decision when announced since many questioned his acting abilities. There is no doubt that Pattinson has silenced those, who were wary of him with this one trailer.
“The Batman” is one of the most hyped films for 2021 after the release of this trailer.
Whether these films will be successes or failures is still unknown, but the event itself was a success and it generated 22 million views.
