Mr. and Mrs. Smith review

The deadliest job in the world, pretending to be married?

Amazon Prime Video hits the scene with their newest show “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” starring hit actor Donald Glover known for his numerous acting roles and more notably for his music persona, Childish Gambino. Co-starring alongside Glover is actress Maya Erskine, well known for her comedy show PEN15 in which she plays a 13-year-old girl even though Erskine is well into her 30’s.

The show is inspired by both the 1996 tv series and the 2005 movie of the same name. Though the plot is a little bit different, our story follows the two joining a spy agency and get paired up as a team, using marriage as a facade to protect their secret life. The newlyweds don the name John and Jane Smith and start their new lives together.

The show itself is a comedy-action that likes to portray the relationship between John and Jane as they grow closer together with every mission, teaching them a lesson about being together and married life. The comedy is very good making sure to give its audience a good laugh every episode whether it be from the stupid bickering of the new couple learning to like each other or them having to act like dogs and sniff each other’s butts in order to not fail a mission. The action in the series is the second most notable thing from the show, making sure to balance out with the comedy by showing many enthralling sequences of explosions, gun fights, and many more.

Glover and Erskine have such amazing chemistry on screen that it makes the series flow so well as each episode passes. The series is now available to stream on Prime Video and is a worthwhile watch for any fan of spy/comedy series or even to see some of their favorite actors in a new role.
