It’s been around three years since we last visited Hawkins. The town is now on quarantine with military guarding Hawkins but school continues and life moves on for the kids and its citizens. The military has set up its base, while they continue to do experiments, and “The Burn” on the thresholds of the upside down, trying to understand what is in it, like Hawkins Lab did throughout the series. Vecna continues to lurk and is stronger than ever, while the Upside Down continues to be frightening, dark, and obscure.
The first episode gives us a little back story of what happened to Will in the first season, giving us clues to why and what happened to him, being so closely connected to Vecna and the Hive Mind. Meanwhile, Eleven (Millie Bobbi Brown), is training with Hopper (David Harbour), and Joyce (Winona Ryder), continuing to stay below the militaries radar, especially from General K (Linda Hamilton). General K has a new weapon to fight Eleven, but Elle has a few surprises of her own.
Enter the other characters: Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) who run a local radio station/ secret base, sending coded messages to the boys. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is getting picked on in school. Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) still visits Max (Sadie Sink) who is still in a coma. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Johnathan (Charlie Heaton) and (Will (Noah Schnapp) are busy working out the logistics of a coordinated recon mission, to be done by Hopper. And on top of all that Nancy and Mike’s sister, Holly, is kidnapped by a demagorgon. Netflix released the first 4 episodes on Nov. 26, and there will be more episodes to come. The second installment will come mid-December and the finale on New Years. It will be a bittersweet goodbye when the show finally ends. The question is..will the gang destroy Vecna?
