The global K-pop girl group, Blackpink is back after 4 years since the release of their 2022 album “Bornpink.” The members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have finally reunited again for their long-awaited comeback with their new mini-album “Deadline” on Feb. 27.
Before the release of this mini-album, the girls finished off their 2025 world tour also named “Deadline.” During this tour, the group released a sneak peek at one of their songs from the album. The pre-release song was “Jump.”
The song “Jump” reminds blinks or fans of the group’s roots, especially with the party/rave instrumentals. It sounds very similar to their debut song “Boombayah.” Apart from “Jump,”the other songs in the mini-album are “Go,” “Me and my,” “Champion,” and “Fxxxboy.”
Every song in this album is distinct and very different from the others.
The song “Go,” shows a lot of confidence through its lyrics, along with having some EDM instrumentals throughout the song. Along with the song, the music video was very high budgeted and fun to watch.
“Me and my,” focuses more on female empowerment, along with female friendship. The song uses many different instrumentals that take inspiration from both trap and hip hop.
“Champion” still has some empowerment; however, it’s more about resilience. This song encourages blinks to keep going no matter what obstacles they face. The song centers more on the girls’ vocals with melodic synergy.
“Fxxxboy” is much more different from the other songs in the album, this song explores the fallout of toxic relationships. The song is very vulnerable with it’s lyrics and these same lyrics become the girl’s armor through this fallout.
Overall, the album was an interesting new side to Blackpink. By far the best song on the album had to be “Champion” due to the resilience and empowerment themes.
