The most anticipated video game animation film has finally arrived, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” was released April 1.
In this film we follow Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and Yoshi (Donald Glover) on saving Princess Rosalina (Brie Larson) from Bowser Jr. (Benny Sandie).
Throughout the film, Peach is not only trying to save Rosalina, but also understand where she came from. In the last film, Peach didn’t fully understand how she ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom; however, in this film, the audience sees Peach unlocking the mystery of her family and where she’s from.
Apart from Peach’s storyline, the audience sees Bowser (Jack Black) try to prove that he is no longer a bad guy anymore. He mainly tries to prove this point to Mario, so that he can return to his normal size. He also tries to rekindle his relationship with his son Bowser Jr., and tries to become a better father.
The audience not only gets to understand these two major storylines, but they also get to see many previous game references from the Super Mario franchise, along with other Nintendo games. Some of the most notable was seeing Star Fox’s Feox McCloud (Glen Powell) interact with the characters, along with flying them to stop Bowser and Bowser Jr. Some other references the audience sees is Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, Mario Odyssey, the mentioning of rainbow roads, and all the shy guys.
Overall, the film was very enjoyable to watch, especially seeing certain characters interacting with others. Besides seeing the Lumas interacting with each other, the best part was seeing the second ending credit of a surprise appearance from Daisy. By far the best character was all of the Lumas. They were so mischievous and cute while doing it. In the first end credit the audience sees a Luma calling Bowser and Bowser Jr. maggots and getting prepared to be tortured by the little Luma. If one has not seen the new film, they should go now and go down a road of nostalgia just like I did.
